by Harper Lee Like Margaret
Mitchell and Gone With the Wind, Harper Lee wrote only
The play faithfully translates to the stage the story of what happens when a young black man is falsely accused of attacking a white girl. Against the opinion of much of the town, one man comes to his defense, a widowered, middle aged lawyer, Atticus Finch, the father of two small children. His quiet courage and tenacity against great odds is the crux of the story. We are a non-profit community theater located in the East Falls section of Philadelphia. The Old Academy building was constructed in 1819 and has been our home since 1932. Both Grace Kelly and Robert Prosky started their acting careers on our stage. |
